Yes. Every single item in our shop is crafted by hand by an independent artisan from the Indianapolis area. No mass production, no factory assembly, no drop shipping — just skilled hands, quality materials, and genuine craft. Each piece carries the unique character and slight variations that only handwork can produce. When you buy from us, you are buying directly from the maker.

Most in-stock items ship within 1-3 business days. Custom and personalized orders (like pet portrait mugs, engraved keepsake boxes, or custom watercolor portraits) may take 3-7 business days to create before shipping. Standard delivery is 3-5 business days within the US. You will receive an email with tracking the moment your package leaves the artisan's studio. We recommend ordering at least 2 weeks ahead for personalized gifts.

Yes, we offer free standard shipping on every order within the United States — no minimums, no surprise fees at checkout. Expedited shipping (2-3 business days) is available for $9.95, and overnight shipping is $24.95. All shipping options include tracking and insurance up to $100. We currently ship to all 50 states including Alaska, Hawaii, and APO/FPO military addresses.

We accept returns for damaged or defective items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund or replacement. Because each piece is handmade and unique, slight variations in color, texture, and finish are expected and are not considered defects. Custom and personalized items are non-returnable except in cases of damage or error on our part. Earrings are non-returnable for hygiene reasons. See our Return Policy for complete details.

Each product page includes specific care instructions for that item. As a general guide: Handmade ceramics should be hand-washed with mild soap — avoid dishwashers and sudden temperature changes. Leather goods should be conditioned every few months with a quality leather balm. Soy candles should be trimmed to ¼ inch before each burn and burned for 2-4 hours at a time. Wood items should be wiped with a damp cloth and periodically treated with food-safe mineral oil. Textiles should be hand-washed or washed on a gentle cycle with cold water and air-dried.

For personalized items like pet portrait mugs, engraved boxes, or custom star maps, simply select your options on the product page and provide the personalization details (names, dates, pet photos, etc.) in the text field before adding to cart. Our artisans will hand-create your item exactly as specified. Please double-check all spelling and details — because each piece is made to order, corrections after production may require a new item. Most personalized orders ship within 3-7 business days.

Our collective includes over 40 independent artisans from across the Indianapolis region. From ceramics studios in Broad Ripple to jewelry benches in Fountain Square, from weaving looms in Irvington to candle workshops on Mass Ave — each maker is carefully vetted for skill, quality, and ethical practices. We feature regular maker spotlights on our Journal page so you can learn the stories behind the people who make your goods.

Items currently ship in eco-friendly packaging with the artisan's branding. While we do not offer traditional gift wrapping, the handmade nature of our products makes the unboxing experience special on its own. You can add a gift message at checkout by entering it in the order notes field, and we will include a handwritten note from the maker with your package.

Please email info@makersmarketindy.com within 48 hours of receiving your package with your order number and clear photos of both the damaged item and the packaging. We will immediately coordinate with the artisan to send a replacement or issue a full refund — in most cases, you will not need to return the damaged item. For lost packages, we file a claim with the carrier and either reship or refund within 5 business days.
